Softball Recap: Central Academy Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

After losing to Lee Park Prep the last time they met, Central Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Central Academy put the hurt on Lee Park Prep with a sharp 17-2 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won six matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Addison Crawford made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Siena Crawford, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Another player making a difference was Kieryn Peters, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 6-for-6.

Central Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee Park Prep only posted an OBP of .185.

Central Academy pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Lee Park Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Central Academy will welcome West Stanly at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Stanly will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Central Academy surely won't give up without a fight. Lee Park Prep has already played their next contest (against Forsyth Home Educators), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
