Softball Recap: Terre Haute South Vigo Comes Up Short

Terre Haute South Vigo started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Columbus North. They fell 5-2 to the Bull Dogs on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Braves in their meetings with the Bull Dogs: they've now lost six in a row.

Emma Cesinger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Terre Haute South Vigo saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samarra Newburn, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Terre Haute South Vigo's defeat dropped their record down to 5-16. As for Columbus North, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season.
