After four games on the road, Appoquinimink is heading back home. They will take on the St. Georges Tech Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Appoquinimink faced the Ducks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Appoquinimink came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ducks and snuck past 54-52.
Meanwhile, St. Georges Tech waltzed into their contest on Saturday with four straight wins but they left with five. They really took it to Newark for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-26 victory on the road. St. Georges Tech has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 30 points or more this season.
St. Georges Tech got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emory Womack out in front who scored 14 points along with three steals. Blair Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Appoquinimink has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for St. Georges Tech, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Appoquinimink beat the Hawks 57-49 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was St. Georges Tech's Michael Breakley, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Appoquinimink to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
