The Frenship Tigers had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They claimed a resounding 87-58 victory over Eastwood on the road. Given Frenship's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Eastwood is ranked 180th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Frenship's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hudson Hutcheson, who threw for 507 yards and nine touchdowns while completing 92.9% of his passes. Hutcheson is on a roll when it comes to passing yards, as he's now passed for 300 or more in the last seven games he's played. Luke Cortez and his 95 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Frenship's win.
When it comes to explaining why Eastwood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Evan Minjarez. Despite the final result, he rushed for 297 yards and five touchdowns, and also threw for 271 yards while completing 80% of his passes. Maximus Mancilla also helped out as he racked up 141 rushing yards.
The win (which was Frenship's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Eastwood, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.
Frenship is on the road again on Thursday and play against Southlake Carroll at 6:30 p.m. on November 16th. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games. Eastwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
