Cambridge Christian suffered their closest loss yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Zephyrhills Christian Academy by a score of 54-52.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Zay Burton, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Karston Michael Ash, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Clearwater Central Catholic's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 60-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakeland Christian. Clearwater Central Catholic found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 23 to 15 on offense.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Maxwell Messa, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 35.3% of Clearwater Central Catholic's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Peter Lenhardt was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Clearwater Central Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Cambridge Christian now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 12-8.
Everything went Cambridge Christian's way against Clearwater Central Catholic when the teams last played back in February of 2022 as Cambridge Christian made off with a 73-52 win.
