DeSoto topped
King (Houston) 55-27 in the Texas Conference 6A Division 2 championship game at AT&T Stadium on Saturday.
The Eagles have claimed three state championships in the last four seasons under head coach Claude Mathis, who has won 173 career games.
DeSoto scored quickly and often, jumping out to a 27-0 lead in the first quarter and scoring 48 points in the first half.
Junior three-star
SaRod Baker had two of those first-quarter touchdowns and finished the game with 125 rushing yards. This comes one week after he went for 366 rushing yards and three scores as the Eagles pulled off a 57-44 win over then-No. 3
Southlake Carroll (Southlake) in the semifinals.

Senior quarterback
Legend Howell tossed three touchdowns in the semifinal and added four more tonight.
Two of those touchdown tosses went to senior four-star USC pledge
Ethan Feaster, who racked up 167 receiving yards. He also added touchdown throws to seniors
Courtly'on Jackson and
Antron Edmundson.

Up 14-0 in the first quarter, DeSoto scored on special teams as senior
Ayden Marshall blocked a punt and junior
Bryson Briscoe recovered the ball and ran into the end zone to give the Eagles a 20-0 lead.
King, in its first ever state championship, scored three second-quarter touchdowns starting with quarterback
Timothy Potts finding
Darnell Bradley for a score.
That was followed with a rushing score from
Dionne Sims and a 79-yard kick return touchdown by four-star sophomore
Dillon Mitchell. Sims later caught a touchdown from Potts in the fourth quarter.
DeSoto capped its second-quarter scoring with a 94-yard interception return for a touchdown by senior
Damarion Ross with 44 seconds left to take a 48-21 halftime lead.
