Vail Christian took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They came out on top against Lake County by a score of 26-18.
Vail Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noelle Razee, who scored 2 points along with 11 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Addie Chester, who scored 2 points along with 5 steals.
Meanwhile, Plateau Valley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They took their contest on the road on Saturday with ease, bagging a 63-7 victory over Soroco. With Plateau Valley ahead 43-2 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Plateau Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Meloni Miller led the charge by scoring 23 points along with 8 rebounds and 8 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Emaline Ealey, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds.
Vail Christian's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Plateau Valley, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 1-0.
