The Bigfork Vikings & Valkyries will head out on the road to square off against the Polson Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Bigfork barely beat Ronan the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings & Valkyries were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Chiefs on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings & Valkyries, who have now won four matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Grady Campbell and Hayden Mayer were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Campbell tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Mayer tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Campbell went 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Mayer went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Campbell has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liam Benson, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cavin Wiest, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Polson). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Browning a 25-0 shutout on Saturday. With that victory, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 9.8 runs per game.
Like Bigfork, Polson also got a great game from a two-way player: Landon Pablo. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Pablo was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those runs were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Wyatt Wadsworth was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI. Those stolen bases marked the first that he has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Landon Shoemake, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Polson hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Browning struck out ten times.
Bigfork's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Polson, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bigfork has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Polson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
