The Berry Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Hubbertville, falling 61-29. Berry has not had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Berry lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Maggie Mauldin, who scored 11 points along with two steals. That was a full 37.9% of Berry's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Rylee Hill, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks.
Berry has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. As for Hubbertville, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 12-8.
Berry and the Stallions will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Alabama (South Lamar is ranked 440th, while the Wildcats are ranked 436th). Hubbertville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
