The Arlington Lions had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 82-42 victory over Ramona at home. Given Arlington's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Ramona is ranked 961st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Arlington to victory were Lincoln Liggins and Ryan Wheeler. Liggins dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds, while Wheeler dropped a double-double on 28 points and 21 rebounds. Wheeler is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last 13 games he's played. Titus Liggins was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Despite the defeat, Ramona saw an underclassman step up: Troy Long scored 12 points.
Arlington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. As for Ramona, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-18.
Arlington will head out on the road to take on Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hillcrest knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 games -- so hopefully Arlington likes a good challenge. As for Ramona, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against La Sierra at 7:00 p.m. La Sierra is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
