The Becker Bulldogs on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Monticello Magic at 6:15 p.m. on January 23rd. Becker has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 499 points over their last six matchups.
Becker suffered their closest loss yet this season on Thursday. They fell just short of Big Lake by a score of 80-77. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite their loss, Becker saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Sawyer Brown, who scored 20 points along with three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Kyan Blomquist, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Monticello's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 62-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Branch. Monticello has struggled against North Branch recently, as their match on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Becker's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-5. As for Monticello, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Everything came up roses for Becker against Monticello when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 92-57 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Becker since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
