Paoli is a perfect 5-0 against Austin since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Saturday, Paoli was able to grind out a solid victory over Evansville Harrison, taking the game 14-9. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Kalyn Hannon was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Avery Crews was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Austin had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 18-7 margin over the Tigers.
Austin got a massive performance out of Teagan Cutshall, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Cutshall a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Ousley, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Austin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Paoli's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Austin, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Paoli has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Austin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Paoli took their victory against Austin when the teams last played back in May of 2021 by a conclusive 12-5 score. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
