The Opp Bobcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their ninth straight loss. The match between them and McKenzie wasn't particularly close, with Opp falling 73-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Opp lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dorian Harris, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Reed Adams was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Leading McKenzie to victory were Jaylen Mcmillian and Quay Jackson. Mcmillian scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Jackson shot 4-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten assists. Mcmillian is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Opp dropped their record down to 2-23 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road. As for McKenzie, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-11 record this season.
Opp will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Gamecocks at 5:30 p.m. on February 6th. As for McKenzie, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m.
