The Memorial Mavericks will venture away from home to take on the Plainview Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial has given up an average of 30.1 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Thursday, Memorial came up short against Lubbock-Cooper and fell 49-42.

Despite their loss, Memorial saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jamari Dean, who picked up 177 receiving yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Dean's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards. Joe Castles was another key player, having thrown for 291 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Plainview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Palo Duro and fell 55-25. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 498th, while the Dons are ranked 96th).
Like Memorial, Plainview lost despite seeing results from several players. Seth Mayberry led the charge by throwing for 297 yards and three TDs. Mayberry has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Plainview's leading receiver Jordan Porter was Mayberry's top target yet again, picking up 129 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Plainview's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Memorial has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 354.6 total yards per game. However, it's not like Plainview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 424.8 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Memorial strolled past Plainview in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a score of 54-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
