Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 25 to 5 on the offensive boards, a fact the Alief Elsik Rams proved on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-42 victory over Alvin. The win made it back-to-back wins for Alief Elsik.
Alief Elsik's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ricky Wilson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Tim Ofesi was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 14 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Alvin saw an underclassman step up: Juan Salas scored ten points along with four steals. It was the first time this season that Salas grabbed two or more steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Falcon, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
Alief Elsik's victory bumped their record up to 10-17. As for Alvin, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-22.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alief Elsik will take on Dawson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alief Elsik has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Alvin, they will head out on the road to square off against Alief Hastings at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Alief Hastings is on a seven-game streak of home losses, Alvin a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
