The Richland Colts's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were the victim of a tough 63-42 defeat at the hands of Sargent County. While losing is never fun, Richland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 26th).
Despite the loss, Richland still got an impressive performance from Nick Mjoness, who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Casyn Syvertsen, who scored 11 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Richland has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Sargent County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.
Richland will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Maple Valley is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Sargent County, they will head out on the road to square off against the Warbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wyndmere/Lidgerwood is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
