On Saturday, the Ogallala Indians faced the Cozad Haymakers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Ogallala walked away with a 62-52 win over Cozad. The victory was familiar territory for Ogallala who now have six in a row.
Despite the loss, Cozad had strong showings from Olliver Davis, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Kellen Shoemaker, who scored 16 points. Mason Fales was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds.
Ogallala's victory bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Cozad, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ogallala will challenge McCook at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. McCook will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 105th, while Ogallala is ranked fourth). As for Cozad, Cozad and Holdrege will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
