After a string of four wins, the Summerfield Rebels's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 50-28 walloping at the hands of Gibsland-Coleman. Summerfield has struggled against Gibsland-Coleman recently, as their match on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Gibsland-Coleman was led to victory by Samora Sampson and Baleigh Haulcy. Sampson scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, while Haulcy dropped a double-double on 23 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Haulcy has scored at least a third of Gibsland-Coleman's points. Ca'Riya Lewis was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Summerfield's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-6. As for Gibsland-Coleman, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summerfield will take on Claiborne Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Claiborne Christian is on a six-game streak of home wins, Summerfield a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Gibsland-Coleman's road trip will continue as they head out to face Family Community Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 26th.
