Baseball Recap: Westville's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

After low-scoring totals in their previous five contest, Westville brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. Everything went their way against the Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles on Thursday as they made off with a 15-5 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Blackhawks as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Westville let Ryder Becker and Maverick Markos run wild. Becker went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Markos went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Becker a new career-high. Landon Rebus was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

Westville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Westville's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Lake Station Edison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.

Looking ahead, Westville will square off against Hobart at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Station Edison, they will be playing at home against Washington Township at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
