Gateway Christian will head out on the road to challenge the Atlantic Shores Christian Seahawks at 6:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Gateway Christian, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 43-29 loss to StoneBridge. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Gateway Christian in their matchups with StoneBridge: they've now lost four in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jacob Holestin, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Khalis Savage was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Shores Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Peninsula Catholic, falling 78-50. While losing is never fun, Atlantic Shores Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Peninsula Catholic is ranked 22nd).
Gateway Christian's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Atlantic Shores Christian, they now have a losing record at 14-15.
Gateway Christian took a serious blow against Atlantic Shores Christian in their previous meeting back in January, falling 82-27. Can Gateway Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
