After each having a week off, the Brookfield Bobcats and the Foran Lions will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Brookfield's defense has only allowed 14.5 points per game this season, so Foran's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Brookfield will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points back in September, then bounced right back against Joel Barlow last Friday. The Bobcats claimed a resounding 47-13 win over the Falcons. Considering the Bobcats have won three contests by more than 32 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Tyler Buttendorf had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 125 yards and a pair of TDs, while also picking up 43 receiving yards and one score. He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 67 yards. Matt Ackerly also helped with two touchdowns in total.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Brookfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 267 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Foran played a tough matchup last Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Guilford 51-6. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-6.
Brookfield's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Foran, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Brookfield has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 251 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Foran, though, as they've been averaging only 97.2 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything went Brookfield's way against Foran when the teams last played back in September of 2021, as Brookfield made off with a 45-21 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Lions' Anthony Edmond, who rushed for 184 yards and one score while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Bobcats to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
