N. Stentiford tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on I. Torres, who went 2-for-6 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of C. Cruz, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Hagerty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
As for Oviedo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-16. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs.
On Oviedo's side, Logan Pollard was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 4.2 innings pitched. Pollard has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brody Challis made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and fired off two home runs, four RBI, and one double while going 3-for-6. Oviedo is 2-1 when Challis posts three or more RBI, but 4-15 otherwise.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hagerty will challenge Winter Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last six games the Bears have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Oviedo, they will square off against Seminole at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
