Campbell County took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Conner, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Camels sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Cougars on Wednesday.

Hope Hamilton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Faith Whitford was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Josie Feebeck, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases.
Campbell County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Highlands sidestepped Notre Dame Academy for a 7-6 win.
The team relied heavily on Alli Meyers, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Class, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Highlands pushed their record up to 22-5-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Campbell County, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Campbell County hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Highlands struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Campbell County couldn't quite get it done against Highlands when the teams last played back in March as they fell 3-0. Will the Camels have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
