Skyview is 6-1 against Caldwell since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Hawks are taking a road trip to take on the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Skyview will be strutting in after a victory while Caldwell will be coming in after a defeat.
Having struggled with six losses in a row, Skyview turned things around against Columbia on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Wildcats. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Makenna Shamy made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Grace Chambers and Makayla Lytle did most of the damage at the plate: Chambers went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple, while Lytle went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four hits gave Lytle a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kenna Bettencourt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Skyview lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Caldwell came up short against Nampa on Tuesday and fell 5-1. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Caldwell saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kloe Fogle, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Skyview's record now sits at 7-13. As for Caldwell, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.
Skyview's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Hawks have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Caldwell, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Skyview continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Skyview's way against Caldwell when the teams last played on April 1st, as Skyview made off with an 8-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
