Baseball Recap: Rockwood Snags 12th Win in Last 16 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Rockwood rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They blew past the Turkeyfoot Valley Area Rams 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Nathan Show was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Max Trimpey was another key player, getting on base in five of his four plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Rockwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .781. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Rockwood has been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Turkeyfoot Valley Area, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Coming up, Rockwood will venture away from home to square off against Fannett Metal at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Fannett Metal's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Rockwood's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Turkeyfoot Valley Area does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
