The Tecumseh Indians will venture away from home to face off against the Dundee Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Tecumseh will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Tecumseh is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Ypsilanti get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Monday. Give the Indians' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fifth straight shutout.
Palmer Ziemer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Rocco Williams was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Austin Kane was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Tecumseh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Dundee can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Hillsdale with a sharp 9-2 win.
Like Tecumseh, Dundee also got a great game from a two-way player: Logan Turner. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Turner is becoming a predictor of Dundee's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 5-9 when he doesn't). Turner was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan Bennett, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Carter Ray, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Tecumseh has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Dundee, their record now sits at 7-10.
Tecumseh was able to grind out a solid win over Dundee when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 10-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
