If the Clinton Prairie Gophers were riding high off their 48-28 takedown of the North White Vikings last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Clinton Prairie was beaten by Carroll 62-25 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Clinton Prairie can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Carroll is ranked 45th).
Hyleigh Wilson was Clinton Prairie's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Carroll's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alli Harness, who scored 23 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Harness also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Jillian Salts was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Clinton Prairie bumped their record down to 3-16 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Carroll, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clinton Prairie will challenge Frankfort at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Frankfort focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday. As for Carroll, they will head out on the road to square off against Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
