The Myers Park Mustangs will take on the Mountain Brook Spartans in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at. Myers Park knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Mountain Brook likes a good challenge.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 16 more assists than your opponent, a fact Myers Park proved on Tuesday. They blew past Palisades 68-29 at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 46-16.
Myers Park can attribute much of their success to Sadiq White Jr., who scored 20 points along with six rebounds, and Bishop Boswell, who scored 11 points along with nine assists and four steals. Boswell also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sir Mohammed, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mountain Brook entered their tilt with Chelsea with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Mountain Brook managed a 61-55 victory over Chelsea on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Myers Park's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Mountain Brook, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
