The Desert Christian Academy Conquerors had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They took down California Military Institute 47-28. Given Desert Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 644th, while California Military Institute is ranked 1353rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jacob Reynolds was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Jaden Herling was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Desert Christian Academy pushed their record up to 13-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for California Military Institute, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Desert Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Temecula Prep at 5:30 p.m. on January 10th. Temecula Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Desert Christian Academy likes a good challenge. As for California Military Institute, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
