South Dearborn hasn't had much luck against Jennings County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Knights are taking a road trip to take on the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. South Dearborn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Monday just wasn't the day for South Dearborn's offense. They lost 15-0 to East Central on Monday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Knights, who until this game were averaging four runs allowed.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Jennings County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Columbus East by a score of 7-3 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Olympians: they've now won three in a row.
Cole Skinner made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Skinner was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. He has become a key player for Jennings County: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Carter Hudson was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Jennings County's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-7. As for South Dearborn, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Jennings County's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Dearborn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. It's a different story for Jennings County, though, as they've only averaged .364. Will they be able to contain South Dearborn's hitters?
South Dearborn suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Jennings County in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
