The Taylor Yellowjackets are taking a road trip to face off against the Cooper Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Taylor is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
Taylor's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Reading with a sharp 10-0 win. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.
Ellie Stafford made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Ady Franke was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Olivia Habig was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Cooper posted their closest victory since May 16, 2024 on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Boone County, sneaking past 7-5. The win continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won eight in a row.
Lily Spraker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ainsley Scroggie, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie James, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Taylor's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cooper, their record now sits at 7-16.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Taylor hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .400. However, it's not like Cooper struggles in that department as they've averaged .342. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Taylor beat Cooper 5-1 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
