The Fossil Ridge SaberCats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They strolled past Mountain Range with points to spare, taking the game 77-61. Given Fossil Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Mountain Range is ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fossil Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sean Purvis led the charge by scoring 23 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Purvis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Nutting, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Mountain Range saw an underclassman step up: Preston Brunton scored 19 points. Mataeo Jourdan was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Fossil Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for Mountain Range, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.
Fossil Ridge will head out on the road to challenge Rocky Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Rocky Mountain focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Mountain Range, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Northglenn at 6:30 p.m. Northglenn is coming into the match with three straight losses on the road, meaning Mountain Range will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
