The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Lutheran-Northeast Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Last Thursday, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 42-36 to the Vikings. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Laurel-Concord-Coleridge has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge had strong showings from Gibson Roberts, who scored 18 points along with two steals, and Kolby Hansen, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Eli Haisch, who scored five points.
After soaring to a 23-point win in their last game, Lutheran-Northeast came back down to earth on Monday. They fell just short of Riverside by a score of 51-48.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Josh Rojas, who scored 12 points along with five steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games he's played. Gavin Feddern was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Lutheran-Northeast, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-3.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Laurel-Concord-Coleridge have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.5% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Lutheran-Northeast struggles in that department as they've made 53.8% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Laurel-Concord-Coleridge's way against the Eagles when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the Bears made off with a 66-43 victory. With Laurel-Concord-Coleridge ahead 36-16 at the half, the match was all but over already.
