The Canyon Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell just short of Smithson Valley by a score of 60-57. The match was a 21-21 toss-up at halftime, but Canyon couldn't quite close it out.
It was another big night for Gavin Londrie, who scored 25 points along with six assists and five rebounds for Smithson Valley. Londrie has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Dj Onezine was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Canyon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-23 record this season. As for Smithson Valley, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-16.
Canyon will take on the Matadors at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Seguin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday. As for Smithson Valley, they will head out on the road to take on the Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Boerne-Champion will be looking to keep their 11-game home win streak alive.
