The Valley City Hi-Liners will head out on the road to face off against Horace at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Valley City has given up an average of 17.6 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Valley City couldn't beat Fargo North on Tuesday even though they stacked ten runs on them in the fifth inning. The Hi-Liners came up short against the Spartans, falling 20-14. The Hi-Liners just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Bailey Leroux made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Meanwhile, Horace got the win against Fargo South on Tuesday by a conclusive 17-2. The result was nothing new for Horace, who have now won four contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Horace got a massive performance out of Whitney Nystrom, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That home run was Nystrom's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braelynn Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Horace always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .511 or higher in five consecutive matches.
Horace's record now sits at 6-3. As for Valley City, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Valley City has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .481. However, it's not like Horace struggles in that department as they've averaged .558. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Valley City suffered a grim 17-3 defeat to Horace in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Hi-Liners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
