Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on Ozanam at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Thursday, Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy opened the new year with a less-than-successful 64-54 loss to Independence Home School. While losing is never fun, Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 549th, while Independence Home School is ranked 255th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Riley Ellis, who scored 19 points. That was a full 35.2% of Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Naftali Tilove was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Ozanam didn't have too much trouble with Frontier STEM at home on Thursday as they won 51-36.
Ozanam got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Skylar Horn out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Horn scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Zaireion Nicholson, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Ozanam, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.
Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy was taken down by Ozanam 61-27 when the teams last played back in November of 2023. Can Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
