3A Region IV District 30 recap September 24, 2013
Orange Grove moved up to 156 from 236 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Region IV District 30. The Bulldogs were able to move up by topping Aransas Pass 49-14.
Orange Grove added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating the Panthers, 49-14. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Tyler Handson was a force in the backfield as Sinton lost to Raymondville.
Alex Fahrenthold was the best receiver in the league this week as Rockport-Fulton lost to Gregory-Portland. Fahrenthold tallied 3 receptions for 64 yards. Joshua Jones helped Rockport-Fulton's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 35 yards.
Handson put up the best numbers in passing as the Pirates lost to the Bearkats. He finished with 9 completions for 121 yards. Handson's favorite target this week was Mark Villareal, who caught 4 passes for 44 yards.
Handson was the best running back in 3A Region IV District 30 this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 227 yards as Sinton lost to the Wildcats. Teammate John Guzman added to the ground attack by rushing for 64 yards.
Sinton's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Pirates feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Handson has thrown for 795 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while Nick Zepeda has 9 catches for 212 yards. Handson also leads the league in rushing with 711 yards.
Ingleside took down Jones 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
