Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Pattonsburg Panthers, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were outmatched by Worth County/Northeast Nodaway on the road and fell 64-14. Pattonsburg's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Pattonsburg's lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gage Iddings, who threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns. Landon Preston was another key contributor, picking up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Tyler New was his usual excellent self, rushing for 240 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 123 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. New really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. Lucas Frisch was another major influence, as he rushed for 68 yards and ran in a TD.
Pattonsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Worth County/Northeast Nodaway, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Pattonsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Worth County/Northeast Nodaway is on the road again on Friday and play against South Nodaway. South Nodaway is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
