A Region 6A recap Sept. 26, 2012
Darlington was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in A Region 6A. The Tigers vanquished King's Ridge Christian 34-17 earlier in the week.
Gordon Lee moved up to 306 from 372 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Trojans climbed the ranks as a result of a 55-8 win over Southwest Atlanta Christian.
Christian Heritage's dynamic duo of Trevor Brown and Nich Bartley proved tough for Fellowship Christian to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Brown threw for 200 yards and three touchdowns and Bartley had 93 yards receiving. Michael McKinney helped Christian Heritage's passing attack out by catching two balls for 43 yards.
Adam Vandiver was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 144 yards on 10 carries as Gordon Lee topped the Paladins. Teammate Dalton Owens added to the ground attack by rushing for 122 yards.
Christian Heritage's Brown and Bartley have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading A Region 6A in both passing and receiving yards. Brown has thrown for 709 yards this season, while Bartley, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 14 catches for 239 yards. Vandiver from the Trojans leads the league in rushing with 465 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Trion takes on Darlington. As it stands, the Bulldogs are in first, while Tommy Atha's team is in fourth.
Preston Poag's team took down Fellowship Christian 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brown ran for seven yards in the win.
