The high-scoring effort was just what the Screaming Eagle needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Saylor Cross made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Cross was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
Cross wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer Rigdon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Rigdon has posted since back in April of 2024. Olivia Albertson also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Ashley's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-16. As for Wilmington Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-7-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Ashley has already played their next match, an 11-3 loss against Hoggard on the 25th. As for Wilmington Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-4 win against Liberty Christian Academy on the 25th.
