Pendleton Heights got a great performance from Brody Stevenson as he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. What's more, Stevenson posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since May 7th.
At the plate, Pendleton Heights' victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Colin Axel-Adams, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Hudson Frank also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Pendleton Heights hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.
Richmond not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30th (when they won 11-1). They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Muncie Central.
Weston Jones was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Richmond's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 10-13 when he doesn't). Jay Burdette was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Richmond's win bumped their record up to 12-14. As for Pendleton Heights, their victory bumped their record up to 19-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pendleton Heights has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Richmond struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Pendleton Heights' way against Richmond in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Pendleton Heights made off with a 9-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Arabians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
