After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Prairie Ridge, Hampshire was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Crystal Lake South Gators with a sharp 11-1 win. Considering the Whip-Purs have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Wilson Wemhoff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Wemhoff wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Shane Pfeiffer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most hits Pfeiffer has posted since back in March. Another was Nathan Kolder, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Hampshire's victory bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Crystal Lake South, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
