Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Kennedy

Kennedy waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the American Eagles a 9-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-1 back in April.

Marilyn Rivas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double.

In other batting news, Kennedy got a massive performance out of Danica Harper, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Harper is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Hannah Cornell also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Kennedy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April.

Kennedy's record now sits at 10-6. As for American, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kennedy will host Newark Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Titans surely won't give up without a fight. As for American, they will be playing at home against Washington at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
