The Leetonia Bears lost against the Columbiana Clippers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Leetonia had to suffer through a rough 55-4 loss at the hands of the Clippers. Leetonia has not had much luck with the Clippers recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
It was another big night for Ellie Venezia, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and six steals for Columbiana. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Venezia has scored all season. Averi Marshall was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five steals.
Leetonia's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-19. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.3 points per game. As for Columbiana, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.
Leetonia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Columbiana will head out on the road to challenge the Beavers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Beaver will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 619th, while the Clippers are ranked 297th).
