The Mills Vikings and the Aragon Dons, after both having extra time off, will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mills' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Aragon's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Mills and Capuchino, and Capuchino kept the tradition alive. The Vikings took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs last Thursday. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Mills saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabel Chen, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Mabel Kaufman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Aragon had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it four last Thursday. They came out on top against the Bearcats by a score of 6-1.
Makayla Hafoka spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Aliyah Adle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Mukherjee, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Mills' loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Aragon, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
Mills came out on top in a nail-biter against Aragon when the teams last played back in March of 2025, sneaking past 10-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
