The Plainfield East Bengals are taking a road trip to take on the Naperville Central Redhawks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Plainfield East is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Last Thursday, Plainfield East came up short against Joliet Catholic and fell 5-2. The Bengals have struggled against the Hilltoppers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Plainfield East saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Corinne Garmon, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Naperville Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Plainfield North on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 13-12. The Redhawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Riley Silvers was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jamie Saran, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI and one double.

Plainfield East's record now sits at 4-4. As for Naperville Central, their record is now 2-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Plainfield East has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Naperville Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Plainfield East was able to grind out a solid victory over Naperville Central when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 9-5. Will the Bengals repeat their success, or do the Redhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
