The Hampton Crabbers waltzed into their matchup on Friday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They blew past Gloucester, posting a 86-38 win at home. Hampton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 22 points or more this season.
Hampton had a senior duo take command as Daron Baugh scored 19 points and Malik Johnson scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abraham Taft, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Hampton's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Gloucester, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-20.
Hampton has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Bethel at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully Hampton is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Virginia (they are ranked 23rd, while Bethel is ranked 181st). As for Gloucester, they will head out on the road to challenge Woodside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gloucester will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 388th, while Woodside is ranked 11th).
