Eureka is 1-9 against Wells since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Vandals will welcome the Leopards at 4:00 p.m. Eureka has given up an average of 17.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Eureka is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Saturday. They lost 27-11 to Mineral County. Even if the Vandals couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Emma Auch was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with nine stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Mya Tognotti, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Wells waltzed into their game on Saturday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. Everything went their way against the Lakers as they made off with a 9-1 victory. The Leopards might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by eight runs or more this season.
Aryanna Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mayte Casas, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Stacia Hansen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Wells' win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Eureka, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eureka has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .554. However, it's not like Wells struggles in that department as they've averaged .557. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eureka suffered a grim 20-5 defeat to Wells in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Will the Vandals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
