The Canton Chiefs waltzed into their game on Friday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They were the clear victor by a 64-42 margin over Brighton. Given Canton's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Brighton is ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Canton had a senior duo take command as Bradley Eziuka scored 21 points along with two steals and Devon Pettus dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Williams, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Canton pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Brighton, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Canton will take on Hartland at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Brighton, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Plymouth at 7:00 p.m.
