The Faith Christian Eagles will head out to challenge the West Lafayette Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Faith Christian has given up an average of 13.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Faith Christian came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Attica, falling 13-3.
Faith Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keely Frier, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, West Lafayette made easy work of Lafayette Central Catholic on Wednesday and carried off a 20-3 win. Considering the Red Devils have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Megan Creech made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with five RBI and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Stella Bates was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alexa Follis, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
West Lafayette always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .698. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lafayette Central Catholic only posted an OBP of .273.
West Lafayette is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Faith Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
Faith Christian might still be hurting after the 18-6 loss they got from West Lafayette in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
